grass !

the grass is growing again already

loaded with conkers. then in autumn they are just left on the ground - would never have been left when i was a kid !

interesting use of a screwdriver. note also the old tiles where the birds nest and in the background on the left the new style of tiling that the birds cant get under
another pic of the sorting hat tree

do you notice anything odd about this tree ? all the older trees on the river bank are the same. the trunks are very short. most odd. well actually the reason is that in the early nineties the river eygues flooded and so the mairie rebuilt the river bank much higher than before. but there was a lovely line of trees along the old river bank. what to do ? they built the embankment up round them - very canny !

number 6

and in at number 6 !

really rather pleased with myself here. didn't like this stitch at all, but by stretching it managed to give it a better geometry :-) everso simple to work, but dont tell anyone.

dog walk 2

why do they like this plant ? it's the only one with these stripy insects all over

now this plant is covered with snails.

green box - i call this the sorting hat tree. and in purple that's my bedroom window

all the plants are in a sad state. very few flowers

holly hocks looking a bit threadbare

i do love the mullin, very cheering, - but looking rather sparse

this knobbly trunk caught my eye - still sprouting life

despite the heat the river has not quite dried up this year

i love this tree

the view from my bench up the digue, the river bank

view from my bench down the digue

dog walk 1

these cheer me up - love this blue. looking a bit worn out at the mo

fair as a star when only one is shining in the sky

tommy, ginger and i

well, at least something is thriving

this is the house where i asked a lady if she was ok once, now often she waits and pretends to be opening the shutters and smiles and waves

this is the house where the parrot lives. in the warm weather they put the birds out on the balcony early in the morning and on my way past when it whistles and chats i whistle back. have had a rather fruitless attempt to teach it happy birthday. it does a selection of dog whistles - well it is right where people walk their dogs :-)

beautiful gnarly old thing

where would we be without the laurier rose in summer - it flowers for months and makes sure there's a bit of colour

little and large

mediterranean pine. love the light against the stormy sky

this is my bench

our flat.

Across the Universe

managed to sew a bit this week and managed to tinker with the linked double chain stitch to make this. have altered how it is stitched slightly to give the stitch a better geometry. am rather pleased with this. dont know why i called it "Across the Universe".

anyway makes up for the crises including the blanket see last post and joanna getting dehydrated, confusion, forgetting her meds so pain and asthma.

our lives may be many things but they're not boring.

blanket

the crisis of the last few days is cos i thought i would be helpful and put a bunch of stuff in the washer - including a chenille blanket that my mum had bought me but had got a bit dusty. dopey head here forgot it was dry clean only. it's disintegrated all over the other washing, all over the house, all over the balcony. and the dust is making us wheeze. so we keep cleaning and dusting - mercifully the helpers have taken it in good sort and have not been toooooo cross with me. another one to put in the biography :-)
